Performing Artist and Piano Teacher in Upper Arlington Ohio

An active solo and collaborative artist, Dr. Suzanne Newcomb performed over 40 professional performances in the Columbus area during the 21-22 season! Highlights include her piano trio, Camarata, performing full programs in the Cambridge Chamber Music Series. Camarata also performed Beethoven’s Triple Concerto with the Greater Columbus Chamber Orchestra. She has played numerous times recently at the Columbus Museum of Art, most notably as part of the acclaimed VIVO Chamber Music Festival.

Suzanne frequently performs composer premieres, presenting new music by Libby Larsen and Ellen Mandel last season. She plays regularly in the extraordinary music program at her church, First Community. Most recently was a recital of the Dvořák Quintet and a world premiere by Karen Sunabacka.

The remainder of this concert season will include three exciting concerto performances: Rachmaninoff’s Paganini Rhapsody, Mozart’s A major, and Florence Price’s Piano Concerto in One Movement.

She is principal keyboardist for the New Albany Symphony, Worthington Chamber Orchestra (formerly MACCO), and Westerville Symphony and is an associate musician in the Columbus Symphony Orchestra.

Dr. Newcomb has been teaching piano full-time for 37 years. She frequently adjudicates for local and regional competitions and festivals. She received her graduate degrees in piano performance from The Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University: a Master of Music and then a Doctor of Musical Arts, studying piano under Leon Fleisher. She completed her Bachelor of Music degree at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.

Suzanne is a senior lecturer (applied piano lessons and chamber music) and staff pianist at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio. She is very active in her district and state MTNA organizations, serving as president for both. In March, Suzanne will be honored as an MTNA Foundation Fellow in Reno during their annual conference.
